Siamak Filizadeh was born in 1970 in Tehran. He graduated from Tehran Azad University with a degree in Graphic Design with a BA in 1995.
Filizadeh started his career as a graphic designer and was later promoted to art director and graphic designer; he has won numerous prizes for designing posters and books.
After his successful exhibition of “Rostam II- The Return” in 2008, Filizadeh has concentrated on his visual art practice and has a stellar resume of several successful solo and group exhibitions in Iran and abroad.
Filizadeh draws upon the rich literary and visual traditions of the Shāhnāma (Book of Kings) and mythological and historical stories of Iranian heroes as inspiration for his artworks.
In his works, Filizadeh combines several staged photographs and creates the final image, which seems like a scene from a dream.
His careful choice of a subject, his technique, combining several images, the juxtaposition of photography, illustration, and graphic design and his mindful blending of anachronistically unrelated details distinguish Filizadeh’s works from his fellow contemporary artists.
Siamak Filizadeh’s works are featured in collections at “The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)” and “The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art”.
He lives and works in Tehran.
